Overview
Your whole reading life — the books you own, the ones you finished, the ones waiting, the sessions that got you there — in one workbook designed and QA-tested for 1,000 books. It counts your goals, charts your habits, watches release dates, tracks what you lent to whom, and shows your library on a visual Gallery Shelf. And because Tenderholt is also the home of Velvet Otter Books, it has a family mode built in from the start: child and family readers, read-aloud sessions and a printable journal made for lap-reading conversations.

Key Benefits
- Honest 1,000-book capacity: the Library Log is built for 1,000 books and was load-tested at that full capacity in QA — it stays light and fast, because the Gallery uses text tiles instead of heavy cover images.
- Goals that count themselves: finished books and pages per year, goal progress and books remaining — all formulas, no manual tallying.
- Habits, not just lists: month-by-month sessions, pages and minutes, with read-aloud and family sessions counted separately.
- Nothing gets lost: a lent-and-borrowed log, a duplicate-title flag on every row, ISBN, cost and estimated-value columns, and care checks that spot unrated finishes and books stuck in “currently reading”.
- Families read together: reader tags (Adult / Child / Family), a Family Shelf summary, family reading goals, and printable journal pages with gentle after-story questions.
Who Is This For?
Avid readers with growing shelves, book-club members, collectors and resellers tracking cost and value, students keeping academic reading straight — and families who read together and want one shared record of it all, from picture books to novels. If your library lives in your head and a notes app, this is where it moves to.
How It Works
- Log books in Library Log (paste-friendly, one row per book; ISBN and tags optional).
- Record reading sessions in Reading Log — short sessions count, and Pages Read calculates itself.
- Set yearly goals; the workbook counts finished books and pages toward them automatically.
- Keep future books in Want to Read with target dates — Reading Habits shows a Release Watch countdown.
- Glance at Collection View and Gallery Shelf for the visual picture; use Library Tool Kit to track loans and tidy duplicates.
- Families: tag books Child or Family, log read-aloud sessions, and print journal pages for the books you finish together.
Why It’s Different
Most book trackers are a list with a rating column. This one is a small library system: goals, habits, release watch, loans, duplicates, cost/value, and a display shelf — built with one clean gallery instead of duplicated, image-heavy tabs, so it stays fast at the full 1,000 books. It runs on long-standard formulas only, behaving identically in older Excel and Google Sheets, and it is the only tracker on our shelf with a family reading mode woven through it (a Velvet Otter Books crossover) plus printable journal pages in US Letter and UK A4.
Delivery & Compatibility
Instant download of direct files: 2 Excel workbooks + 4 PDFs (guide and printables, each in US Letter and UK A4). Works in Microsoft Excel (including older versions) and Google Sheets with identical formulas and layout — long-standard functions only (SUM/SUMIF/SUMIFS, COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, AVERAGEIF/AVERAGEIFS, IF/IFERROR, INDEX/MATCH, REPT, YEAR, TODAY). Yellow cells are for typing; blue cells are formulas — do not type over them. A filled SAMPLE workbook is included so what you receive matches what you see here. Free updates if we improve the file. On an older phone, prefer the Dashboard and Collection View over scrolling the full 1,000-row log; filters are set up on every log.
Disclaimer
This tracker is an organisational tool for personal reading records. Ratings, values and costs are your own entries and estimates; Tenderholt does not verify book metadata (editions, page counts and ISBNs vary by printing — check the edition you own). Sample data is fictional and illustrative. Tenderholt and Velvet Otter Books are not affiliated with any publisher, author or bookseller named in the sample data.
